Vintage Performance

Ahh Performance in the days when tack didn't cost thousands of dollars and 'realistic' setups meant more than how fancy your horse and tack were.

Lunar was one of my first 'mares', and she actually kicked butt pretty well considering up to this day I still have trouble getting a good picture of her. She's always been a judge's favorite. I don't know why. Anyway, this was my first attempt at a Western Pleasure photo. Yes, that is a prancer's saddle. I made the bridle myself. Despite the poor tack, blur, shadow, and numerous other things wrong with this photo, she got quite a few champs in performance. Photo contributed by Samantha Kroese |
Ok let's ignore the fact that the hedge looks exactly like what it is, a crumpled piece of green material. Let's ignore the fact that he's casting a shadow on the sky. Let's even ignore the fact that he's blurry and dark and hard to see. What harness have you ever seen that was black with white reins? LOL My first attempt at a 'fine' harness. It's made completely out of ribbons held in place by sticky wax, it's not even sewn together except for the bridle, which actually criss crossed over his face instead of being a normal bridle. I don't remember if I ever showed/placed with this. Photo contributed by Samantha Kroese |

Phantasmagoria - Halter Showmanship I have no idea where I got that doll, but I remember getting her just to use as a prop. The halter I made myself, braided embroidery floss. Photo contributed by Samantha Kroese |

Ethereal Knight Showmanship/Halter photo. I have no idea who took this picture (got it when I bought the custom) but it's one of my all time favorites. Photo contributed by Samantha Kroese |
End of the world Ok, this one's not vintage, but it's here because it was sent to me and I thought it was a good photo for the gallery. It's a lovely photo, but if you'll notice the horse is about to step off the edge of the earth. Guess the model horse world is flat! Photo contributed by Pamela Pittman |
